How we can help these CEO's make it on only $500,000

http://consumerist.com/5150676/how-a-ceo-can-live-on-500k-a-year

Annual Expenses

Our Suggestions

Private school (per student) $32,000 public school + "Gossip Girl" discs via Netflix $9 monthly subscription fee
Mortgage & Co-Op fees $192,000 Just move already. To a house with no co-op fees. $96,000
Nanny $45,000 This 500K income is brought in by only one spouse, right? The other one doesn't have a day job? Do you see where we're going with this? $0
Vacations (2: beach and skiing) $16,000 Six Flags Great Adventure, Rockaway Beach in Queens, Coney Island, and assorted zoos, gardens, events, and museums in the city $1500
Summer house $240,000 Find a summer share on CraigsList, or rely on invitations from former Hamptons neighbors $10,000
Chauffer $100,000 Did you know anyone can drive a car? It's true! All you need is a license. $50 (NYC license fee)
Garage fees $700 Park below 65th St
or, park on the street
$500
or free, with occasional tickets
Personal trainer $12,000 Your memory. You paid attention during those earlier training sessions, right? If you still want some encouragement, consider a Wii Fit and/or re-runs of "The Biggest Loser." $0-80
Party gowns for galas (3 per year) $35,000 You live in the same town as the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons. Find an ambitious student to nurture. $3,000 plus an investment in potential future fashion insiderness
Tutoring $3,750 "You're not going to get through private school without tutoring a kid." That's not going to be a problem with public school, we assure you. You may still want a tutor though for supplemental education, so we suggest CraigsList $0-$1500
Groceries $15,000 Try the Grocery Game! Otherwise, we're not going to mess with this one, other than to assume that you can probably shop smarter if you set yourself a lower budget—say, $200 a week instead of the $288 currently estimated $10,400
Frozen hot chocolates at Serendipity $8.50 each You know what goes on at Serendipity, right? $0

Be Careful buying electronics this season

This is more for my less tech savvy friends who may not realized that they (or their family) is being ripped off at target, best buy or wal-mart. So let me give you some quick heads up advice.

If you are buying electronics at a retail store, don't be afraid to check your item before you leave. Open up the Ipod, xbox, or DVD player and make sure that there is one in there! Sometimes people buy electronics, fill it with junk, seal it up really well and return it the store for you to buy. It is happening more often and people working behind the counter are too dumb to understand what happened. Also, make sure the serial number on the unit matches the number on the box.

Also check the model number of your purchase. For example if you buy a Canon D10 camera and you open the box and inside is a Canon D07 (not a real camera but I'm trying to make a point here.)they look the same but are 2 very different products.

Here is an example of how you can easily get ripped off at wal-mart. The employees don't even notice that the ipod is a bootleg.

Testing how to blog

I'm trying this from my iPhone. If it works then that will mean that
I can update more often.

Busy, Busy

I have been pretty busy playing a few select games. I wish I could say Fallout and Fable are a part of the bunch but sadly they will have to wait. But I did give up on Dead Space and went into gears 2 which I found to be the "Bad Boys 2" of gaming.

Gears 2 is all about action, guns and chainsaws. If you get into playing this game and expect anything different than you are going to disappoint yourself. But, if you understand that this is a machismo fest going in you will thoroughly enjoy it. As much fun as I had playing horde mode, I dropped the game completely when Left 4 Dead released.

The funny thing about L4D is that it doesn't seem to have a story as far as I can tell. And you know what, I don't care. The game is about zombie killing action and does not even attempt to be anything more. Its fun, just pure fun. My hat goes off to Valve once more (after playing the contents of The Orange Box for the first time)and I'm looking forward to reprise my role as Gordan Freeman in their next departure.

This weekend...

This weekend I got to spend some time with Dead Space and Midnight Club LA. I will write more later

Team Fortress 2, Saving Private Ryan

Some guy spliced TF2 with the intro to Saving Private Ryan...Simply Awesome.

Not Feeling LBP

OK, So I gave it a shot and I really dont see what the big deal is. The game has an amazing physics engine but at the end of the day its a platformer. I didnt care at all for the level creation and the online was wonky off the break. I swear I don't understand why people are hyping this game they way they are. I am convinced that the reviewers out there are being bought out. Little Big Planet is a average game at best.

Little Big Planet

I popped in LBP last night and played for about 2 hours. Not to sure what to think yet

The Silent Hill Disappointment

Silent Hill has been a favorite series of mine since the original debuted on PlayStation and every time an addition to the series is announced I get all excited as if I was 8 years old and the ice cream truck is rounding the corner. So when I heard that there was a new next-gen Silent Hill coming out I just couldn't wait to play it in HD with all the twists that accompany the series.

So, I bought the game the day it came out a month ago and it has not been such a pleasurable ride. At first I was baring with the spotty graphics, the glitches and straight forward storyline but I couldn't take it anymore. This is easily the worst Silent Hill game of the bunch and I am trading it in for Dead Space.

There are so many things wrong with the game that I don't know where to begin. First the graphics are bad. There are times that it looks PS2 quality and times that it looks amazing. When the character models start talking in the cut scenes their lips are out of sync, and the body movements are awkward. It all looks rushed and that the developer wished that they had a extra month to work on the game.

Next is the story, it is so straight forward and does not challenge the traditional narrative of the story. At about 5 hours into the game I just didn't care for the protagonist or the other characters. Looking back, I don't really know what the overall purpose was. I guess that the Character was looking for his brother but beyond that there was no reason to become attached to the story. Boring.

The last thing I want to say is that the combat and enemy AI drove me to abandon this game. I could have toughed through the boring story and bad graphics just to say I completed another Silent Hill game but I just couldn't. The big issue here is that the enemies are plentiful and they respawn OFTEN. Survival Horror games thrive on limited resources but this game is just broken. There are not enough health items or powerful weapons around the town to take down your average enemy. And, it is impossible to outrun any enemy. At my breaking point, I was being chased by 3 dogs, 2 Manta Ray things and a few shot gun shells to my name. In any other Survival Horror game you can just run away and lick your wounds but not here. Even when I managed to get away from some enemies, when I had to return to the area that I left them an hour ago, they were STILL THERE! I managed to kill off some of the dogs and made it to the Town Hall but when I returned, so did the dogs! It was impossible to play.

This game bites. I hate it. And I hate it even more because I truly love the series. If you are a fan and considering a purchase, I would pass. I'm off to give Little big Planet and Dead Space a try.
